Greymoor is an isolated region of Eltheris, known for its picturesque autumnal landscapes and bountiful harvests. However, beneath the surface of its rolling hills and golden fields lies a dark history tied to ancient magic. The people of Greymoor have long practiced rituals to ensure the prosperity of their land, but as time passed, these traditions were forgotten. Now, with the dimensional instability spreading across the land, the people of Greymoor are faced with the consequences of breaking their ancient pacts. The region is haunted by vengeful spirits, and its once-thriving farmlands are now cursed and decaying. Greymoor is a place of both beauty and danger, where the past and present collide, and where the solution to the Nexus Gate crisis may finally be found.
Current Struggles
The Curse of the Harvest: The farmlands of Greymoor, once abundant with crops, are now cursed. Crops rot in the fields, livestock are sickened, and farmers speak of strange occurrences happening at night. The source of the curse is tied to ancient rituals performed by the original inhabitants of Greymoor, who sought to bind their land’s prosperity to powerful magic. Now, with the dimensional rifts caused by the Nexus Gate, those long-dead spirits have returned to claim what they believe is rightfully theirs.
Dimensional Collapse: The Nexus Gate’s instability is reaching its peak, and the dimensional rifts in Greymoor are far more dangerous than those seen in the Frozen North, the Blooming Forest, or the Sunken City. These rifts have allowed dangerous spirits and creatures from other realms to cross into the mortal world. The very fabric of reality is at risk of unraveling, and unless the rifts are closed, all of Eltheris could be consumed by this dimensional collapse.
The Key to the Nexus Gate: Hidden deep within Greymoor lies the Ancient Harvest Stone, a powerful artifact tied to the original rituals performed by the people of Greymoor. This stone holds the key to stabilizing or closing the Nexus Gate. The challenge lies in uncovering its secrets and performing the necessary ritual before it’s too late. However, factions like the Riftwalkers and others are vying for control of the stone, each with their own agenda.
Important Figures
Kara Vayne – Spirit Medium of Greymoor
Kara Vayne is the daughter of Lord Thalor Vayne, the noble scholar from the Sunken City.
Unlike her father, who is driven by logic and knowledge, Kara has a deep connection to the spiritual world. She is a medium, able to communicate with the spirits that have begun to plague Greymoor.
Kara believes that the only way to solve the Nexus Gate problem is to listen to the spirits and understand their demands. However, her methods are considered unorthodox, and some factions distrust her abilities.
Garrick Thornfield – The Harvest Reaper
Garrick Thornfield was once a revered farmer in Greymoor, but after performing the ancient rituals tied to the Harvest Stone, he was cursed with immortality and became a harbinger of death.
Now known as the Harvest Reaper, Garrick has returned, leading the vengeful spirits who believe that the land is theirs. He seeks to control the Harvest Stone and use it to tear open the dimensional rifts permanently, ensuring his dominion over both the living and the dead.
Factions of Greymoor:
The Riftwalkers (Dimensional Explorers)
The Riftwalkers, who have been involved in the Frozen North, the Blooming Forest, and the Sunken City, have now turned their attention to Greymoor.
They believe that the Harvest Stone holds the key to stabilizing the Nexus Gate, and they are racing against time to study it before the dimensional rifts fully collapse. However, their academic approach clashes with the more spiritual and local views of how to handle the crisis.
The Harvest Cult (Worshipers of the Old Magic)
A secretive group of Greymoor inhabitants, the Harvest Cult is dedicated to preserving the ancient rituals tied to the land’s prosperity.
They believe that the curse of the land is a punishment for abandoning these rituals and that the Nexus Gate’s instability is a sign that the old ways must be restored. The cult seeks to perform the original harvest ritual to stabilize the land, but their methods are drastic and could result in more harm than good.
The Spirits of Greymoor (Vengeful Dead)
The spirits of the original settlers of Greymoor have returned, angered by the desecration of the land and the breaking of ancient pacts.
Led by Garrick Thornfield, these spirits are determined to reclaim their land and punish the living for what they perceive as greed and betrayal. They haunt the fields and farms, spreading fear and decay wherever they go.
Notable Locations
The Ancient Harvest Stone: The Harvest Stone is an ancient monolith located deep within the cursed farmlands of Greymoor. It is the focal point of the old rituals that once bound the prosperity of the land to powerful magic. Now, it is a source of dimensional instability. The Riftwalkers and Kara Vayne believe that by performing the correct ritual with the Harvest Stone, they can close the Nexus Gate and stop the rifts from expanding. However, the spirits and the Harvest Cult have other ideas.
The Cursed Fields: Once the heart of Greymoor’s agricultural success, the Cursed Fields are now barren and haunted. Strange figures can be seen wandering through the mist at night, and crops wither and rot without explanation. The fields are filled with dangerous, unpredictable magic, and those who venture too far risk being consumed by the curse.
Thornfield Manor: The former home of Garrick Thornfield, Thornfield Manor is now an abandoned, crumbling estate located at the edge of Greymoor. It is said to be the place where Garrick first performed the ancient ritual that cursed him. The manor is filled with dark magic, haunted by the spirits of Garrick’s former family and allies, and it holds many secrets related to the Harvest Stone.
The Rifted Orchard: A once-thriving orchard, the Rifted Orchard is now a place of chaos, where dimensional rifts have torn open the fabric of reality. Trees grow twisted and malformed, and fruit that should have been ripe has been tainted by otherworldly magic. The Riftwalkers have set up a temporary base here to study the effects of the dimensional rifts, but it’s a dangerous place where reality itself is unstable.
